About the Lab
4488888 Lucky Numbers Lab is an independent publication and toolset about one surprisingly powerful idea: people attach meaning to numbers, and that meaning moves behaviour and money.
A licence plate sells for the price of a skyscraper floor. A phone number ending in five eights draws thousands of auction bids. Apartment towers skip their fourth floors. Retailers end prices in 8 for one audience and 9 for another. We document these patterns carefully, across Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Western traditions, and turn them into tools anyone can use.
What we do
- Free tools — the Lucky Number Analyzer, numerology calculators, an auspicious date finder and more.
- Research — sourced guides on number culture and on the markets for plates, phone numbers and numeric domains.
- Valuation desk — free, confidential valuations and buyer matching for owners of premium numbers.
Our editorial standards
- We cite sources for prices and historical claims, and update figures when better data appears.
- We describe beliefs as beliefs. Numerology and number symbolism are cultural traditions, not science, and we say so.
- Sponsored content is always labelled. Advertisers never influence tool results.
- We correct errors quickly — report one here.
How we're funded
Display advertising, optional brokerage services, sponsorships and reader support. The tools stay free.
The name
"4488888" is a numeric domain name — four-four followed by five eights. We chose it because it captures the whole subject in seven digits: a number that one culture reads as foundation-then-fortune and another reads with caution. The same digits, many stories.
